A Weekend in Cobourg

I spent this past weekend in Cobourg, Ontario for my uncle’s wedding. We drove four hours early saturday morning to arrive at ten, at my uncle’s house. The ceremony was a quaint, civil wedding composed of only close family, and right on the water. Afterwards, we headed to a farm in Cobourg for the reception. It was a fairly casual wedding, with a potluck dinner for all the over 100 guests, but it was still beautiful and so much fun! My two cousins from Vancouver came out, and we all stayed in a hotel right in the heart of Cobourg. Sunday, we explored the town a bit before brunch with the newly-weds, and headed back to Montreal.

This was the view from the farm.

The tables, which seated all the guests comfortably.

These lovely bouquets were made by one of my Uncle’s friends. I loved the flower they made of old book pages and attached to the vase.

This is one of my cousins and I. The one to the left of me is Kayla, almost 13. To the right is Jasmine, and she’s 10 years old.

The lovely sunset.

This was the band that played. They were fantastic! The crowd was going crazy, dancing all night.

We walked to the beach on sunday, and the sights were just beautiful.

Here are some pictures of the town, where we walked along and

I just love this photo of my cousins and I. It’s rare that I get to spend this much time with them, so I always cherish every moment of it.

The Sweetest Sixteen (Part 2)

Yesterday was my birthday, and oh how sweet it was!

I started off the morning by writing the majority of my thank you cards! Somehow, mom always captures the moment in her photos. All my gifts from the night before were still around me!

Also, you might have realized this already, but I am absolutely in love with my sweet sixteen dress! I don’t think there has ever been anything else I would wear two days straight in a row!

My amazing godmother gave me this lovely Tiffany necklace the night before, and it’s so gorgeous that I had to put it on.

I opened the presents from my parents, and got quite a few lovely surprises! They got me the most beautiful pair of earrings!!

From there, we headed downtown for a bit of shopping, and then sushi for dinner! Yum!

Thank you everyone once again for all the birthday wishes!!

The Sweetest Sixteen

Last night, I had my sixteenth birthday party! I had my dad’s side of the family over, all five of his siblings and my many cousins, second cousins, etc. I also had ten or so friends, all close ones, to celebrate the day. I didn’t want something too extravagant, so it was a simple party. Still one of the best nights of my life! My band and I performed, and the theme revolved around Rock ‘N Roll. Obviously, with all the other stuff that has been going on, this was sort of a last minute thing, and I only got the invitations out a two weeks earlier. Here are just a few photos of the night.

Going with the theme (and my party invitations), I made a few decorations for around the house. There were an array of records around the house, each with one of my favorite songs of all time.

Blowing out the candles!

My lovely parents and I!

My amazing and wonderfully creative mother made her special carrot cake, in the shape (and colours too) of my guitar!! It was amazing! I didn’t get any good photos of it unfortunately, I was too caught up in the moment!

This was my special creation. One of the desserts, was this ice cream bar, that ended up being a huge hit, not only for the kids but also the adults!!

And of course, my lovely second cousin Mia and I!

The night was amazing! I ended up staying awake until 3:30 am, opening all my gifts and jumping up and down. I was just too excited to go to sleep. John, our family friend, stayed after and we enjoyed some more wine (for the adults) and the lovely laughter of the evening. It was all unforgettable!

So today is my actual birthday, and after last night, I don’t know how much better it could get!

Anyways, I’m off to write my thank you cards!

Easter 2013

This afternoon, my dad’s family and I celebrated Easter at my cousin Kelly’s beautiful home. It was so much fun, and I got to see my family, which is always a blessing. My dad has five siblings; two brothers and three sisters. I love them all dearly and we have so much fun together! Here is a little recap on our wonderful day.

Pre-party photo shoot with dad!

And here’s mom.

This one’s just me. I thought I’d get in an outfit post on here.

I actually ended up wearing these shoes to the party.

We spent our whole afternoon outdoors, and the only thing inside was the food!

Being a part of a Lebanese family, we take our food very seriously! Everyone in the family takes part in this area of expertise, and makes a dish.

We had orso salad, tomato salad, tomato sandwiches, both spicy and regular hummus, baba ghanoush (eggplant dip, similar to hummus), various fatayers (cheese, pizza, spinach, etc), and this dish called yabrak (ya-ba-da), which is rice and meat rolled in vine leaves. That one, my mom made. It is one of my absolute favorite meals.

Some of the fatayers.

This was the dessert.

We had fruit, cake, cake pops, and various lebanese desserts.

You see those diamonds with the almond in the center? My mom made those as well. They are a secret family recipe, and it is the most amazing dessert in the world. I can’t even describe how good they are, but it tastes like heaven with every bite.

This is my cousin Kelly (and the host)’s beautiful daughter, Mia. She is now two years old, and she is one of the cutest kids I’ve ever known. I babysit her often, and I love her so much!

As you can tell, she loves the camera! She posed for it and everything! And, thanks to her extremely fashionable and stylish mom, she was wearing an adorable blue striped dress with a pink belt! Très chic!
